As a techno-geek, I always enjoy keeping up with new technologies whether they are directly applicable to my job or whether they have the potential to become useful. As I acquire new skills or sharpen specific skills, I typically try to apply them to a specific project, personal or not. I sometimes also blog the whole process. But keeping track of these skills and their applications always required a strong sense of organization. I needed a web application to help me track and share my skills.
As an enterprise architect and IT director, finding good programmers has always been very challenging. Qualifying candidates based on an inventory of work experience and list of skills is difficult. What if people tracked and shared their skills on a site? What if they created portfolios to illustrate their skills?
‘My Skills Map’ was born out of this vision! I hope you enjoy the service and contribute ideas to help make it better.
